A WHITE Jack Russell Terrier from Arbroath has reached the semi-finals of Britain’s Next Dog Model 2011, co-ordinated by grooming, training and healthcare experts, Mikki.

The competition, supported by leading online pet retailer, PetPlanet.co.uk, went live on April 23 to coincide with National Grooming Week and National Pet Month, and all entries were co-ordinated via Mikki’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/MikkiPet.

The 10 semi-finalists were chosen by Facebook users from over 400 contestants, with over 1,500 votes cast to date!

Chase’s owner is Rachel Paterson who said: “I had been searching for years to find a puppy to become a companion for my 11-year-old Jack Russell, Buddy.

“The right dog was never found until in January I saw advertised a pure white male Jack Russell puppy. I knew as soon as I saw the picture this was the dog for me.

“I did not let the fact that the puppy was for sale 400 miles away in Stoke on Trent faze me! After a long journey I had my puppy home and named him Chase.

“Now almost seven months old I could not think of life without him.”

Rachel continued: “Chase has settled into the family well and has already learned a lot of skills and tricks from his role model Buddy. Buddy has modelled professionally in the past, and we hope Chase will follow in his footsteps (or pawprints!).

“I am very passionate about dog training and hope in the future to compete Chase in agility events.”

It is not too late to vote, simply log on to the Mikki Facebook page to vote for your local semi-finalist, and the three dogs with the most votes will be put through to the final stage of the competition.

As well as the prestige of becoming Britain’s Next Dog Model 2011, the winning dog and its owner will be treated to an exclusive pet and owner photoshoot session, and the dog will become the face of Mikki advertising for a year.
